DuGym Rhythmic Gymnastics organised the THIRD edition of DuGym Cup from 6 to 8 December & 9 December Master Class featuring FIRST time ever FIVE world-class Olympic rhythmic gymnasts!
DuGym Cup 2018, turned out to be ONE of the largest sporting events in the Middle East, and featured legendary Simona Peycheva (BULGARIA) - THREE times World Champion & TWO times Olympian, Nataliia Godunko (UKRAINE) - TWO times World Champion, TWO times Olympian & European Champion, Melitina Staniouta (BELARUS) - World Games Champion & TWO times Olympian and two more great Olympians - Carolina Rodriguez (SPAIN) & Marina Durunda (AZERBAIJAN). |
2018 is celebrated as the “Year of Zayed” in the UAE, honouring the 100th birth anniversary of the Founding Father of the Nation, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan; and DuGym Rhythmic Gymnastics is honoured to be part of the great celebration by hosting one of the ultimate sporting event in Dubai.
DuGym Cup was the FIRST International Competition to be held in the UAE (in 2016) and the third edition of the International Competition in Dubai will continue making history and is hosted in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council (DSC).

More About - SIMONA PEYCHEVA
Simona Peycheva (Bulgarian: Симона Пейчева) (born May 14, 1985 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is an Individual Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnast.
Peycheva started Rhythmic Gymnastics in 1991 at the Academic Club in Sofia, under head coach Marietta Dukova. As a junior, she had victories at several international tournaments.
In 2001, Alina Kabaeva and her teammate Irina Tchachina, who originally won gold and silver medal in all-around, respectively tested positive for a banned diuretic (furosemide) and were stripped of their medals, Ukraine's Tamara Yerofeeva, who originally won bronze, was awarded the gold. With the disqualification of the Russian Team results at the 2001 World Championships, Peycheva took three golds (hoop, ball, clubs) as well as two silver (all around, rope) and one bronze (team).
Peycheva won the ball and clubs at the 2002 World Cup Final in Stuttgart. She missed the end of 2003 and the early months of 2004 due to a foot operation. She did compete in the 2004 European Championships and the 2004 Athens Olympics, qualifying in 7th and placing 6th in the final with a total of 101.050 (Hoop 25.375, Ball 25.675, Clubs 25.600, Ribbon 24.400). At the 2005 Corbeil-Essonnes Tournament she placed 2nd in Ball.
She competed in her last Olympics cycle at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she finished 10th at the finals.
After four years, she resumed her career and she returned to the sport and recently she has just competed at the national Championship of Bulgaria finishing 6th.

Carolina Rodríguez Ballesteros born (on May 24, 1986 in León, Spain) is a Spanish retired rhythmic gymnast. She is a veteran of the sport of rhythmic gymnastics who started her senior career in the early 2000s.
Rodríguez began rhythmic gymnastics at the age of seven. She says, “Since the first time I saw this sport I fell in love with it.” She competes for the Ritmo club. She has three coaches who are Nina Vitrichenko, Ruth Fernández Menéndez, and Nuria Castaño Fernández. Rodríguez trains for 25 hours per week and she dreams of becoming an Olympic medalist.
In 2013, Rodriguez had her breakthrough season, she won the 2013 Mediterranean Games in Mersin beating Greek gymnast Varvara Filiou (silver) and France's Kseniya Moustafaeva (bronze). In 2014 season, Rodriguez achieved her highest placement in the World Cup series at the 2014 Lisboa World Cup finishing 4th in all-around. She qualified to 3 event finals and won a bronze in clubs. In May 30-June 1, Rodriguez competed at the 2014 Minsk World Cup and finished 14th in all-around. In June 10-15, Rodriguez competed at the 2014 European Championships and finished 10th in all-around.[1] at a press conference, Rodriguez announce her plans to continue competing until the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In August 8-10, Rodríguez competed at the 2014 Sofia World Cup finishing 11th in all-around finals. In September 22-28, Rodriguez placed a career high at the 2014 World Championships finishing 10th in the all-around finals with a total of 68.448 points and qualified to an event final (in ribbon) for the first time at Worlds. In 2015, Rodriguez competed at the 2015 Holon Grand Prix finishing 13th in all-around. Rodriguez finished 15th in all-around at the 2015 Berlin Grand Prix. In June 15-21, Rodriguez competed at the inaugural 2015 European Games where she finished 13th in the all-around. Marina Sergeyevna Durunda (Azerbaijani: Marina Sergey qızı Durunda; Russian: Марина Сергеевна Дурунда) is a retired Azerbaijani individual rhythmic gymnast of Ukrainian origin.
Durunda started her senior career in 2013, and soon became the leader of the Azerbaijani gymnastics and a three-time (2013-2015) national champion. She won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Championship in Minsk, and a silver medal at the inaugural 2015 European Games in Baku. Marina represented Azerbaijan at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and finished 9th in the all-around final.
